How does Hostmonster web hosting stack up against IPower webhosting? We wanted to know for ourselves so we did some extensive research to help you decide which is better. We are typically of course bias towards Hostmonster , but we have nevertheless put together only the facts to help you decide as the customer which professional web hosting service is best for you. At the end of the day that's all that counts.
IPower
Here is the rundown of all the benefits and features of IPower web hosting. This is straight from their website www.ipower.com:
- $6.95 a month
- Free Domain Name
- 1,500 GB of hosting space
- 2,500 E-mail Accounts
- Up to $80 in Free Advertising Credits
- Host 25 Web sites in 1
- 15,000 GB of Bandwidth
- 25 MySQL Databases
No mention of SSH access to your account is mentioned with IPower which leads us to believe that they simply do not offer it. IPower claims to be offering 1,500 GB of hosting space yet it appears that they are only allowing you to host up to 25 websites. Those two numbers seem to not match. We could not find any numbers on subdomains or ftp accounts.
Hostmonster
Here is the rundown of all the benefits and features of Hostmonster web hosting. This is straight from their website www.Hostmonster.com

Misc. Notes on Hostmonster
1,000 additional FTP accounts and unlimited subdomains are also listed as part of the package. Hostmonster is offering a large amount of space as well (1,500 GB) but is backing that up wtih allowing you to host unlimited websites at the same time.
User's Point Of View
In a forum thread exchange on bestpaidhosting.com a few webmasters gave their review to help us get a better insight on what is being discussed on this subject:
"I have had both ipower and Hostmonster as hosts, and let me tell you do not go with ipower. They do not have the reliablity that blue host has. When my site was hosted with ipower my site went down once a week, and now that my sites are hosted with Hostmonster they never go down.
Hostmonster also uses cpanel while ipower uses vdeck. Vdeck is not near as easy to navigate as cpanel is. Yes ipower may have similar features, bandwidth, disk space, databases, and all of that may be similar but the reliability is not. When my site was hosted with ipower i always got database errors and had to reset my scripts to get them to work again it was a pain. Ipower also has horrible support, dont count on getting a reply the same month you ask a question. Blue host has gotten back to all of my questions within 24 hours of a reply. Anyways go with blue host it is much better."
The response given to this comment:
"Ipower does have one distinct advantage over blue host, and that is the ability to upgrade your account from a shared service to a vpn or dedicated service. That is all ipower has going for it over Hostmonster, this thread was created to compare the shared hosting parts of the two companies"

How Does IPower Measure Up Against Hostmonster
IPower appears to lack in MySQL databases and number of hosted domain allotments! Everything else is pretty much equal. Price, hosting storage, bandwidth, and number of email accounts to name the most important. Those measure up right next to Hostmonster. But a lack of MySQL database allotment as well as the ability to host no more than 25 websites really hurts IPower. They are equivalent with things such as server downtime and customer service. IPower hurts in this situation because they give you no real advantage over Hostmonster. They only give you disadvantages because you cannot host more than 25 websites or 25 MySQL databases.
Conclusion: Who Do You Go With?
Definitely Hostmonster in this case. You are getting everything the same as IPower for the same price plus 25 more MySQL databases and an unlimited more ability to host websites. Overall many novice users have enjoyed using the Cpanel over the Vdeck to manage their account. CPanel is used by Hostmonster and it is not used by IPower. The only two real reasons you would choose IPower over Hostmonster is if you personally found them to be great at customer service and if you preferred the VDeck control panel over the CPanel control panel.
