We are typically of course bias towards Hostmonster , but we have nevertheless put together only the facts to help you decide as the customer which professional web hosting service is best for you. At the end of the day that's all that counts.

Misc. Items on Dot5Hosting
No mention of SSH access to your account is mentioned with Dot5Hosting which leads us to believe that they simply do not offer it. Dot5Hosting claims to be offering 1,500 GB of hosting space, unlimited MySQL databses, but still only letting you have 25 domains per account. This clearly shows us that they are truly not offering that type of space. Those numbers seem to not match. They do not offer a dedicated IP address.
Hostmonster
Here is the rundown of all the benefits and features of Hostmonster web hosting. This is straight from their website www.Hostmonster.com

Misc. Notes on Hostmonster
1,000 additional FTP accounts and unlimited subdomains are also listed as part of the package. Hostmonster is offering a large amount of space as well (1,500 GB) but is backing that up with allowing you to host unlimited websites at the same time.
User's Point Of View
We could not find any non-biased reviews on the subject of comparing these two shared hosting companies. Hostmonster's Strong Dot5Hosting Claim Located on their HelpDesk Forum Hostmonster claims that Dot5Hosting "runs scripts using the www:www permission set, meaning that anyone on the server can see and potentially control your data. The user:group permissions running for an individual script tell us just how secure that server really is. Ideally, you want your server to use user based permissions to keep hacking attempts to a minimum." If this is true, this is definitely an issue that Dot5Hosting needs to clean up. How Does Dot5Hosting Measure Up Against Hostmonster Dot5Hosting appears to be giving the same allotments for hosting space, bandwidth, and subdomains. They are however offering a more competitive price at $5.95/month (1 dollar per month cheaper than Hostmonster) and claim to be offering unlimited MySQL databases compared to Hostmonster and only 25! Dot5Hosting is also superior with POP email accounts offering up to 5,000 which doubles Hostmonster in this category. But a lack of domains on 1 account is what really hurts Dot5Hosting in this comparison . Hostmonster is offering you unlimited domains on 1 account. In essence this means that you could host an unlimited amount of websites. This feature is a huge benefit with Hostmonster. Dot5Hositng's offers are deceptive. They give you 1,500 GB of hosting space, unlimited MySQL databases, but know that you can only use those allotments up on 25 websites at the most. Things such as server downtime and customer service can only be compared through user reviews. Dot5Hosting really fails in comparison to Hostmonster currently because of their inability to host no more than 25 websites on 1 account!
Conclusion: Who Do You Go With?
Definitely Hostmonster in this case. You are getting everything the same as Dot5Hosting with the exception of 2,500 more email accounts, and unlimited MySQL databases. The price is only $1/month difference. Dot5hosting currently uses the vDeck control panel while Hostmonster uses CPanel. Overall many novice users have enjoyed using the Cpanel over the Vdeck to manage their account. The only three real reasons you would choose Dot5Hosting over Hostmonster is if you personally found them to be great at customer service, if you preferred the VDeck control panel over the CPanel control panel, and if you did not plan on hosting any more than 25 domain names on your account. If I were you I would use Hostmonster before I using Dot5Hosting!
