Hosting Drupal On Hostmonster

Hostmonster accounts are setup to work perfectly with Drupal CMS installations. I am a big Drupal follower, so much so that I build most of my sites in the Drupal content management system. If you can tell, even this site is a 'Drupal' website.

To setup Drupal on your server you need to be able to upload the files to your document root and setup a database, a MySQL username, and attach the database to the database username. In certain systems this can be very difficult but with Hostmonster and their CPanel it's fairly easy. On a side note stay tuned on this blog for a training video on setting up a drupal website on Hostmonster.

You also want to take advantage of the URL rewriting tools within Drupal that make your Drupal site so SEO friendly! To do this you need to have a .htaccess file with the correct permissions for Drupal to be able to function properly in these areas. Hostmonster by default basically takes care of all this for you beforehand.

One big thing that goes unnoticed by Hostmonster is how well the php.ini files are pre-configured. You almost never run into an issue when installing a system like Drupal with your php.ini. You never need to make any changes to the file which can sometimes be very difficult for the beginners out there.

Summary
If you are looking at using the Drupal content management system then you need to consider using Hostmonster as your webhost. Your Hostmonster account is pre-configured in such a way that your installation process with Drupal is fast and easy. Remember, you are getting 1500gb of hosting space which will allow you to host hundereds of Drupal websites if you want to.
